Upgrade completed for Duluth company. Print E-mail
Local company turns to Nova IT for network overhaul.

Nova IT Services recently completed a network upgrade for a Duluth-based business. The project involved upgrading the company's aging 16-port hub to a 26-port HP ProCurve switch. Along with the newfound reliability of their network, the owners also saw the wisdom in centralizing and protecting their data storage. Nova IT installed a standalone 2.0TB RAID5-configured NAS unit (Network Attached Storage). The unit is coupled to an APC Smart UPS uninterruptible power supply. This allows the NAS to power down in an orderly fashion in the event of a power loss, and to power back up automatically when service is restored. The equipment was put to the test several days after installation when the company experienced an unscheduled 30-minute power loss. The equipment bounced back as expected and all systems are functioning perfectly. This system allows all employees to use the same redundantly-protected storage space. Areas of the storage can be password-protected to provide access only to authorized users.
